Room decorating is going very slowly. I just upgraded my fish tank over the weekend and just tonight cleaned up the mess.  At one time I had 5 fish tanks running:  50-, 30-, 10-, 6- and 5-gallon sizes.  This was back in a previous townhome, before the last apartment.  At that time, I phased out all of them just so I could start and keep up with a Reef Tank in the 50-gallon.  Once we moved out of there and into the last apartment, there was no room for such a big fish tank so I downsized to a 30-gallon.I had designated the alcove to the left of the TV/Fireplace as the new fish tank area with the goal of getting a much larger tank (75 gallons or more) and plumbing the filtration system down to the basement.  Well, Ann was endlessly terrified of having such a large tank in that corner as it would overbalance the entire room.  So, this weekend, I compromised with a 55-gallon tank.  My old 30-gallon setup just looked too ugly in our nice new house so I searched for something better.  Here’s what I found!

New 55-gallon fish tank

As you can see it fits the space nicely.  It looks rather small in this picture but keep in mind that we have 9-foot ceilings here.  The tank is four feet wide and almost five feet tall.  It lines up nicely with the TV shelf above the fireplace.  I’ll need to put up a nice picture above it, something suitable with this Feng Shui water corner.  Old 30-gallon setupI still need to arrange the inside of the tank and probably get some more rocks to put everything on.  On the right here is a picture of my 30-gallon setup.  You can see how the lights and such on the top are not covered and tend to get water spots everywhere.  So, the new tank has a nice canopy to conceal the messy top stuff.

We’re still slowly working on the rest of the house.  There are a few boxes and miscellanous crap laying around, especially in Ann’s loft which has yet to be addressed. There isn’t too much mess in the living space because we have the basement as a dumping ground for now, and half the garage still has boxes and totes. We are still trying to decide on the best way to decorate. I have my ideas and she has hers. Lots of negotiation and discussion going on before we can decide on curtains. Once curtains are complete and the couches arrive we’ll start to work on wall hangings and additional furnature.  I’ll have pictures once we decide on window coverings.
